Here we are in the Army thread and we are not discussing one of the most fav topics in camp. Surely everyone has a story to tell.. either personally, or heard of a friend of a friend..

So share with us your successful downgrade stories and hope it "inspires" the rest. ;)

Well done! while N.korean is firing ballistic missiles like nobody's business, here you are discussing how to skip National Service..

A good idea, stand in the path of an incoming missile! ;P

great idea there. haha. downgrade and wait for the missile to drop on you. if you are at least fit, can either fight or run faster. LOL. "Pikachu" are unable to run 1 u know.

"PiKaChu" in army is a term which refer to those "Pai Ka Pai Chu". hope my everyone can understand my Hokkien. =)

i think it is strange for you to post such a thread, it not only embarrass the people that posts their stories, it also highlights a problem with your character. I am sorry but you should do some soul searching.

well not really.. it's quite a common topic of discussion among pre-enlistees, NSFs, reservists etc. I've heard of several myself.. though they were all legitimate and thus not very interesting..

If u were from the SAF before, then u will know that its no big deal. Otherwise, its not easy to explain to you. No problem with my character or my soul, cause at least i'm informed. Suggest you can do likewise.

i am sorry with my last post, maybe i was being a bit too rigid. However i stay my my stand that such a topic should not be discuss as it sows a seed of laziness, as people (enlistees) will treat this as an alternative.

heard from some of the downgraders that it is actually quite easy.
Just spend some money to visit a specialist for a full body scan. Everybody sure have something that is not quite right e.g. spine, bones blah blah.. (eventhough it's not painful).
Then concentrate on that area and just keep complaining. .. haha...
btw.. i am RODing next yr... woohoo

i believe that eventhough some of us try to 'keng' during NS or doesnt put in 100% during training, most of us will stay behind to defend or even die for Singapore if there is really a war..

why not we lighten the mood people! just treat this as an entertaining thing instead of a thread where pre-enlistees can get ideas from. it's just for fun!

2 years onli juz serve and gif it to dem loh. y bother to keng when u are perfectly alright? go and waste $$ scan here and there. y waste such time and effort.

i juz orded not long ago, quite a nice experience in the ns. :D its something u wont get to do very often, u suffer together, pass out and get red hats together, fought atec and finally ord together.

inbetween, i goes to mani overseas for trg. :D such nice experience where to get? in my ns stint i went abroad 4 times, 2 x taiwan, 1 x brunei and 1 x thailand. such gd offer where to get? haha.. j/k

"...too much of something good is no good and too little of that something good isn't good either"

During my BMT phase, i used to think... "wha, if only i can be like my that friend become driver, so shiok man! Sometimes when nothing to do can book out and plus in army, got free license somemore..." all these and that then i think harder again. National Service is only 2 years and after you ORD and face civilian life, definitely your friends around you will ask, what did you do during your 2 years in army?

There's when pride comes in to play but nevertheless, there's also this saying "...you chiong so much, got extra pay meh?!" So conclusion is, work smart and not work hard! This applies to the outside civiliain working world too.

Maybe last time during our father's days, working hard is the only way to welfare but now, times has changed. If you work hard, then you're dumb cos most probably you'll be just an idiot following orders and who doesn't knows how to take initiatives. Now for someone who work smart, arh ha! I guess this 2 words needs no explanation yeah?!

So to those still in there, be a man and do the right thing and not prove how wussy you are! Just once in your life, 2 years of your time!

My case wasn't on purpose. I got stress fractures on my knee, shins and ankles of both legs during BMT. I reported sick and then MO gave me Attend A. 1 month later, it was really bad. After x-rays and MRI, my surgeon from NUH manage to convince the medical board to downgrade me from Pes B to Pes C2 and eventually Pes C9L2.

Problem. It's real. Although it's 10 years ago, I do feel the pain come back occasionally.
