Was supposed to go, but I will be away for overseas duty during that period, and thus, only a few of my colleagues will be involve.

Why did they plan this run so early this year? I was disappointed when I saw the date cos I would be away during that period. Shucks! I always treated this run as a warm up to the StanChart Marathon.

Managed to sign up for SBR/AHM (Half M) for this year. Particpated when this event first started. Unfortunately hv to give the event a miss last year as I was down with flu. This year SBR/AHM is along a new route. Check it out.
Going for the Standchart (Full M) too at year end. Gotta get the legs up and running....huffing....puffing... Really gives a good workout.
To those who are participating, have a fun race. It feels great at the end point :)

Hi Ace, you can actually login to www.singaporemarathon.com to know abt this coming year end event as well as see some posted images of runners in past Singapore marathons. I see older folks running at faster times than others runners in the younger age group category. I guess it all depends on many other factors except your age. Keep on running.:)

Just like the Chinese saying "you sin wu li" which means the heart is willing but the body is frailing. (okay i'm not very good at translation, but you get what i mean)
I am particularly interested in trying out for long endurance runs and i've been looking out for opportunities to challenge myself. And I've expressed much interest for this year's Army Half Marathon cos my dad and I have been running quite regularly for long runs recently. BUT BUT BUT i don't really think I can make it because the run is a day before my English Prelims which is pretty important for a Sec 4. ):
Majority of my friends advised me not to because I will be too tired from the run. Besides I haven't tried running a distance that is more than 8km. ):
Should I still run?

Given the situation, some will run as a means to relax and take their mind off the pressures of the exam on the following day. Some may decide not to inorder to use up whatever precious time they have to mug through unrevised work. More importantly is whether your body is adequately prepared to take on the race distance you intend to complete. I guess you would not want to sustain any injury to be out of action for yr exams and also dampening your interests to participate in future races. I had to give last year's SBR/AHM a miss as I was recovering from flu. There will always be races to participate in. Do prepare yourself adequately - rest, hydration, nutrition, training runs.
Make running as your long term healthy lifestyle.

lucky for me i don't have to waste my time running a silly half marathon. thank goodness for being pes C2!
Wow! PES C2. This means some inherent body malfunction somewhere. Better go for a thorough inspection to see what's happening. Mortal lifespan is affected.:)

Broke a leg during NS ( The specifics described somewhere else in the other threads) and was downgraded to Pec C. Problem was, prior to ROD, they sent me back to Recourse and upgraded me to combat fit Pes B.
Sighhh.. hehe

I guess running a race is not so silly after all regardless which fitness category you may be in. Terry Fox would probably be considered PES Z but the purpose he ran one is something we can ponder on...not the fitness category you are in that determines if the race is silly or not:)

the only reason terry fox ran is because he wanted to raise awareness for the type of cancer he had. i can't imagine how hard it is to only run on 1 leg. about 2 years ago, i read a medical report that said running too much may not be good for the body as it may weaken the immune system. i sure wouldn't want that to happen.
some people may enjoy running as a form of recreation, others don't. since young, i've been more of a swimmer than a runner.
and i completely agree with what mystical said. different people have different ways of relieving stress. some may go for a long run, others may go and swim or simply go watch a movie. no one person is the same.
Great that you now know each individual has his/her own forms of recreation which somehow you had a different opinion in yr original post saying that it is your waste of time running in a silly marathon...kudos on your enlightenment...:)

ok ok.. enough.
So pariah thinks the run is silly. While I disagree, he can go about doing what he wants to do that will suit him as a Pes C person. But lets just leave him alone on this.
For the rest of us who are joining the run, lets train hard.. and stay alive, pple! :)
