If your finger is not strong enough to pull the trigger, use 2 fingers lor

Not to take sides or anything, but Minwei192, if you're really not a kid, its hard to believe that with the way you defend urself and the phrases that you use... I mean first of all, you do seem to be overreacting after simply being addressed as a 'kid', for all you know, he's just an uncle (who of course makes him older than you), and you're just younger than him. No harm done, and in ur respect, no harm taken. You do seem a lil hot-headed and immature that would seriously cast doubts on how old you really could be. Just suck it up, and dun let it get to you is all I'm saying. ;)

Kudos to you on firing that gun tho, wish i had chances like that without the need to join clubs and pay exorbitant membership fees!

hahaha its oklah buddy... at the least he learnt that by retorting back emotionally would result in insulting himself even more cos u dun see him answering back anymore. This is good cos if kids can learn this, they would mature faster in their thinking and replies.

If u notice there are some of these very defensive young uns posting here in other threads and they never learnt to dissassociate themselvs from their emotions. Well maybe they are autistic i dunno

BOut the revolvers well yes, holding your breath to stabilise the front sight and foresight works and never jolt or snatch on the trigger but squeeze on it gradually after the 1st pressure. I know it could be hard not to snatch cos the recoil of the revolver is stronger than all the weapon i had shot except for the gpmg i guess.

How i know this, well maybe i'm a marksmen :p

I am in POlice reservist. Trained in revolver...should ard the same.

while you aim by aligning your sights. do a first pressure of the trigger. u need to hold the last 10% of the pull and then pull a bit more to hit the prime with your pincer. thus you need finger strength to pull it off. (finger pushup)...by doing this you are able to release the shot promptly...instead of shaking too much by pulling the full trigger after aiming.

I think you know this much abt supporting your main hand with 45deg hold with your other arm on the bottom of the handle. main hand straight and flexible to withstand recoil.

if you are at 5metres...aim for the area you want to land your shot....17metres...slightly aim at head to land shots in the torso. cos revolver is not strong weapon to allow the bullet travel a straight path before hitting target at 17m. so it is an arc reaction.

so i suggest you do more finger pushups.
the breathing thing...just breathe normally.

naturally if your finger is stronger, you would get the first pressure point much easier.
I went for the 2 practices but didn't go live firing cos i'm not interested in the cca just forced to go lol.

I was like the only one who could release and go back to first pressure repeatedly very fast. Not trying to boast but lol dont know la the rest like some no strength to pull. I think it lies on your finger strength and whether you know how much pressure to apply

I think you're supposed to hold your breath, right ? And of course, enjoying the experience is very important because that may be the last time you get to fire a revolver. Well... it was my last.

if u can lock the hammer with your thumb and it stays there then its easy, try using a single pump action shotgun or a semi-auto pistol, tried both in ns coz my battallion is urban ops test unit, pumping good fun!

Agree. The Recoil for .38 is so much greater. Anywayz, Just listen to what your NCOs or CIs usually teach. Do the double action. Don't Squeeze the trigger at one shot because you will tend to miss it far and big

or rather, he might have mistaken the strength of the recoil, since it is easier to control M16 recoil as you are supporting the stock on your shoulder.

Your best bet is to use the weaver stance, adopted by many pistol marksmen. To use the weaver stance, you stand legs about shoulder length apart, facing the target. Do not twist your body. This means your toes should be pointing towards the target. Bend a little at the knees while keeping your back straight.

Now, the most important part of the weaver stance is how you hold the gun. With your master hand (it should be the right, if you're right handed) you hold the grip and pull the trigger. The other hand overlaps the fingers of the master hand, also resting on the grip. With the palm of the master hand, push the pistol or revolver forward, and with the supporting hand, exert equal pressure in the other direction.

This shooting form is very stable, and once you've mastered it you should be able to do accurate double-taps with a pistol.

You are certainly not a marksman. The recoil of the revolver is never stronger than the M16.

I won't argue that the .22 is a very weak round, but don't forget that the primary selling point of the M16 is it's straight line of energy transfer. This means that unlike other rifles, the energy created from the bullet and the propellant gases popping out of the muzzle doesn't push the gun up, but directly backwards into the shooters shoulder. This is why the M16 is so easy to control on burst or automatic mode.

WOW!

Nay. I've shot before, but I've had no formal training. My apologies anyway, as there appears to be several variants of the weaver stance. The example that I gave, IIRC, is taught to US Army soldiers and FBI agents.

Anywho, random fact of the day, just in case anyone wonders why. The official current M16 doesn't have full automatic mode because in Vietnam, circa 1970, the US was beginning to realise that soldiers, in fear, would squeeze the trigger and not let go, due to human psychology. This meant that instead of taking the time to acquire the target, shoot, then reacquire the target and shoot again, the soldiers were blindly spraying at the enemy and running out of bullets before they hit anything. Forcing burst mode meant that the shooter had to consciously release the trigger, then rethink according to the situation.

Tend to agree that using double pressure is the best way, but some people just are not able to get that esp. with not much live practice. The rotation of the cylinder tends to be different when there are live rounds inside the chamber as it becomes heavier. So unless you can get hold of weighted dummy rounds, not easy to attain the double pressure trigger squeeze.

Would recommend that one train with hand grips to strengthen one's grip and trigger finger. Then can use slow steady squeezing of trigger all the way until the projectile fires off. If fingers no training, can be difficult to sustain slow squeeze especially if one has to fire more than 20-30 rounds.

Most people also have problem in keeping the revolver rock steady and as such the grouping tends to be inconsistent and big. Training should be able to minimize this problem as long as the trainer is able to identify when the trainee is having this problem. Very obvious especially when using the Taurus revolver with CTC laser.

Hope that helps.

.22 only.. shot it before when im in npcc. nothing compared to M16. follow instruction and u'll be fine for ur next shoot. breathing technique and double action is all u need. close the correct eye and stand in proper position. If u're so exhilarated shooting only a .22 revolver, what will happen when u go NS and if u're combat fit, fires the SAW and even GPMG? Or if u're in armor, shoot the .50 cal MG? lol wont u die of excitment?

the M16; or shall i say AR-15 used in BMT, have automatic mode lol. during my outfield someone from my platoon shot blanks using automatic. my PC shouted suddenly when he's giving my group (we split up) instructions "OI WHO THE **** IS SHOOTING IN AUTO MODE?" lol i didnt even notice someone is shooting in auto.

what jmmtm explain is very good. i agree with him. i have my marksman badge already. u first have to align your sights. i presume that the instructor shd have told u this. while aiming at the target, u slowly press the trigger, u will hear a click, it is the first pressure(cant remember the exact name), this means that the gun is cocked. after that, continue pressing the trigger, the gun will then fire. remember to aim higher than what u intend to hit bcoz from experience, people miss as a result from them expecting the recoil, they point downwards a split second before firing to counter the recoil.

pls do not just simply press the trigger and fire without doing the first pressure thingy. u may not have the strength, but it is better to do the first pressure thingy as u will be more accurate that way. since u do not have the strength, u can use two fingers to press the trigger, that is ur index finger of ur left and right hand.

btw im also in NPCC.. im in sec4 xD

Effective range for revolver how far only, unlike some of the heavier weaponry I have used.

hey hey hey..

first of all, the m16 is an assault RIFLE. its not wise to compare it with a REVOLVER.

The m16 is an american made assault rifle. the m16 in sg are customised 's' variants. its overall length is a bit shorter than the western ones as asians are normally smaller built. The variats in sg are m-16 s1 and s2. It is gas operated assault rifle firing the standard 5.56 calibre rounds. able to penetrate lvl 1 and most lvl2 kevlar armors. The best position to fire the weapon is prone position as in that position u r most stable and ur center of gravity is beri2 low. it effective range is up to 500 mtrs max.

The .22 is a revolver here we're toking about. effective range:~50mtrs. rounds: .22 calibre. not able to penetrate lvl 1 kevlar at all. onli unarmoured ppl. best position to fire : ACTUALLY WHICHEVER position u r comfortable is the best position. but i recommend standing/ weaver stance. u r more level wid the object.
kip in mind. right hand (right handed onli) straight elbows lock. firm grip on gun is a must. left hand on the left side of the stock. bend @ ard 120 degress angle. fucntion of left hand: to support vertical position, right hand horizontal position.
ok now.shooting. breathing SHUD BE NORMAL.DUN ANTICIPATE THE GUN'S RECOIL.LET IT PUSH UR HAND BACK THEN REGAIN CONTROL.apply first pressure, make sure sights align properly den fire.OH YA. close the left eye.whenever possible use the laser. easier la.

weird thing is, i achieved marksman with the .38 but not with the .22

i fired .22 at the Old Police Academy, and .38 at the new HTA range.

police? not yet la u think how old i am i just in national police cadet corps and going for a live shoot at the HTA :D
may be a furture police in NS i guess than sign on again :D
normal police dont use that. duhs.

the way you hold got something wrong lor. simple.

simple tips for u,
if u r right handed,
u put ur thumb in, hold it, not much strength on right
left will be the one with more strength.
when triggering, use the section between the first and 2nd partition of ur hand. more to the first one, easier to trigger. dont use "meatless" area.

Throwing a weapon is not a first time thing. I watched Nat Geo and they were playing this Innovations thing. This us soldier on an Abrams was reloading his machine gun when his enemy came under 20ft. That CPL dropped everything and threw the ammunition box at the enemy and that guy went down and the next tank finished him off =D

You are certainly not a marksman. The recoil of the revolver is never stronger than the M16.

hahahah this is hilarious, u just proved yourself to be an ignorant all assuming idiot n obviously u never shot the revolver that is why u say this :D
fyi.....all police officers gets to shoot the m16 plus, not the 0.22 but the stronger 0.38.

M16s are easier to control compared to the 0.38 revolvers lah.

I personally shot the gpmgs, m16s, hkmp5s, taurus n S&W 0.38 n went for classification shoots for hkmp5, m16s, 0.38 taurus.

posts like below are the ones that knows they are talking about.
This is why the M16 is so easy to control on burst or automatic mode.
.
N this fella is comparing to the 0.22 k n not yet the stronger .38s k

im from npcc too! i scored full marks in that test =p

btw, the trophy that they give you for full marks sucks, it broke after one year.

to score, just take your time. even if your hand shakes slightly its ok.

I am in army so nv shoot revolver b4.. But i shoot p226 so shld be quite similar for first shot ( after first shot is light hammer ) ..

A revolver is a heavy hammer weapon.. So is very impt to hold the trigger halfway first, den shoot.. Hold your breath when u do it.. Lock your elbows.. The recoil is veri diff from rifle.. The pisol move upwards... N nv rush to shoot.. Shot by shot slowly..

Join NPCC and you will know. the dry shoot revolver trigger is very hard, but the ones in live shoot is very smooth, so don't anyhow try pressing.

the bullets come out 1st then the effect of the recoil will happen
