View Full Version : Do you support the ban on camera phones in the SAF?

I fully support this ban. Reservist training is not a Chan brother's tour lah. I find it hard to accept that people are shooting away with their camera phones as if they are shooting Saving Private Ryan.

Military training is serious business. the public disemmination of army training -- where equipment, movement and people are exposed -- will compromise security.

Believe me, the intelligence guys can interpret a lot just by looking at one photo of armoured training. They can tell what unit has been training, the quality of the armoured vehicles, the tactics employed in deploying them etc.

I thinking of getting the phillp non-camera for reservist. Although it may be a expensive for a phone without much function, but the battries last very long. Good especially on a 3 day 2 nite ex.

at my time bmt, i keep it myself. in unit also i keep it myself.
i dun think officer wanna keep it for u. if lost they kena. somemore the reason for u to have a hp is for those time of needs.
unless u are toking about carmera phone, then i must surrender to the guardroom where the rp will give u a pass and ur phone lock it the safe in the guardroom.

Then there should be more HP without cameras. Just take a look at a handphone shop and you'll release almost all of them has a camera!

generally we as Singaporeans have abused our freedom to the extent of having to have draconian rules imposed to keep us in check

so I support the ban

The thing is, who would want to take pix of army camp? I couldn't even wait to leave that place... Invite me back with sedan, I also reject.

Good loh, ban the camera phones... When in camp, PS want to find me to do tasks, I won't be contactable as I didn't bring in my camera phone.

To threadstarter: Change the 2nd option to...

No, and it's redundant as there is no beautiful scenery/women to photograph in camp... not even the chief clerk!! http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l268/mystical99/vomitting.gif

What about those open houses? Dont they let everybody enter? Im sure spies can just walk in take a 'look' and walk out. Moreover the army likes to display its latest technology right? Anyway if you see the photos, most of them have little to shed. Just see some of the pictures posted by a fellow stomper. One has the sea in the background. One has a person in his bunk. I dont see how these photos can contain any sensitive information.

I think if they want to ban camera handphones, EVERYONE who dons the uniform has to do like-wise. This question is directed to RPs or those on guard duty:

When you see your camp commander or any high ranking officer driving into camp, would you even dare to stop him to conduct a routine check?

And, if u knew that he/she has a camera phone, would you ask him/her to surrender it?

Yah, I agree, it's a serious intelligence threat, the enemies will laugh their socks off after seeing pictures and videos from Camera phones of our training, equipment and facilities. Notwithstanding how the people actually behave.
