well you can always go all out and get a simple gift, like a chocolate or something she likes, write out a apology, say you were foolish, you're sorry, ask for forgiveness and you value this friendship and dont think of her that way, etc etc

Effort is what people want to see. A simple I'm sorry, two syllables will solve everything? nope. Anyone can say the words, but you have to show that you're honestly and seriously sorry.
Oh and dont over do it and get her a diamond ring or something cos thats gonna put guy A in a spot.

To you, it meant a joke to label her that. To her, she might never trust a person who labelling her a nasty nick behind her again. I m not good at disaster recovery as well. Guess you have a lot of works to do to re-gain the friendship. I think the only way is to constantly show her your sincerity on treasuring the friendship over a period of time, even to the extend as similar to the way you repent to your gf.
