Default THE one to WATCH

From F1's youngest points scorer to F1's youngest race winner, the career trajectory of Sebastian Vettel continues to point to all the makings of a future racing great after Season 2009.

1) Vettel doesn't enjoy the clout or evident No. 1 driver position like Lewis Hamilton but yet outperformed the defending champion with comparatively limited resources. In fact, one might say that he had to compete for team resources with an equally talented and no less motivated team mate in Mark Webber. Red Bull Racing were one of only two teams where both drivers were competing for the Drivers' Championship right up into the last weeks of the season.

2) Having joined a new team in Red Bull racing, Vettel had to adapt to a new environment, new car, new team members, etc.

3) Throughout the season, Vettel weathered more storms than Florida (e.g.: He was 1 more dodgy engine away from being penalised, yo-yo results with 4 wins, 3 retirements, etc., etc.) and showed that he had the temperament to go with the skills.

4) Over and above everything else, 2009 saw Vettel always smiling throughout, come what may. No tantrums, no big media show, no fancy celebrity girlfriend (yet!), just pure joy at driving and racing.

This, coupled with the predicted future success, sets him up as the perfect future ambassador for F1. And, THAT, may be the most important image of Sebastian Vettel when we look back to Season 2009.

Default The Best is Yet to Be

Sebastian Vettel truly deserved to win the Formula 1 racing Season 2009. His performance was absolutely superb and world class. Being one of the youngest driver in Formula 1, he had many disadvantages that were unfavorable to him. He did not have the experience of veterans like Kimi Räikkönen or Fernando Alonso who have been in Formula 1 for many years. Moreover, he was new to the capability of the vehicle. However, he overcame all odds to win it in the end.

With such a hunger within him and his young tender age, he is a force to be reckon with in the future. He is sure to get better with each race and the desire to win makes him unstoppable. It doesn't matter which pole position he starts, as long as he is on the circuit, you are bound to see him finish it in top position.

Smile Vettel's 2009 F1 performance, my view

On 9 Nov:-
I foresee likely. Let’s look at his performance in year 2009. He achieved winning driver in China, UK and Japan races. Right at this moment we review him. Sebastian furthers with 1 more No.1 position in Adu Dhabi totaling of 4 x 1st and 2 x 2nd positions in Bahrain and Germany race. This is hard fact. Not… jaywalking…It is 4 out of 17 races so far in year 09 he scored 1st. Taking 2nd place all in is 6 out of 17. May be Renault have to improve the F1 car. Potential…..ok.

Default Summary of Sebastian Vettel's Performance in F1 2009

Sebastian Vettel may not have won the F1 world title in 2009, I still regard him as a force to be reckoned with.

Vettel's performance in 2009 F1 campaign was hampered by three factors:
  1. the first, his machinery which, although tremendous, did not incorporate the giant-killing double diffuser, introduced by Brawn GP, until halfway through the season.
    Brawn GP's controversial interpretation of the regulations governing the design of the rear diffuser - They made it into a double-diffuser;
  2. the second, his bad luck; and
  3. third, mistakes - his mishaps at Turkey and Monaco spring immediately to mind.
If he irons those out, there are precious few who will be faster than and ahead of him on any F1 race course.

Here's the proof of his pudding:

He has been rated as the season's best driver by team bosses.

AUTOSPORT F1 Season Review
  • solicited the driver ratings from all ten of the current team principals in total confidentiality,
  • to establish who the key men in the paddock believe was the star driver of the year,
  • converted the rankings into points on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis and
  • collated the results.

And it is Vettel who has come out on top, over world champion Jenson Button - with last year's number one rated driver, McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, coming a close third.

Here are the full AUTOSPORT F1 Team Principals' top ten results for 2009 are:

1. Sebastian Vettel 76
2. Jenson Button 67
3. Lewis Hamilton 65
4. Fernando Alonso 39
5. Rubens Barrichello 35
6. Kimi Raikkonen 30
6. Mark Webber 30
8. Felipe Massa 19
9. Robert Kubica 10
10. Adrian Sutil 8

The rankings say it all. This is almost equivalent to a peer review ranking by all the F1 racing teams principals. Getting the F1 drivers to rank their peers would be ego-tripping - they will probably rank themselves as No 1! LOL!

This ranking like a reading from a crystal ball, into the future of 2010 F1 GP, by the various F1 Racing Team Principals. Who else but them, is closest to the racing action & bears witness to the performance of F1 racers under their charge and also that of competing racers.

Therefore, I regard this ranking of significant weightage & importance.

Quote:
Vettel, the man who ran Jenson Button closest for title glory at only eleven points adrift in the final reckoning – crashing out of both of the opening two encounters in Australia and Malaysia, doing likewise in Monaco as he pushed too hard on over-worn tyres, sustaining suspension damage following a touch with Ferrari rival Kimi Rakkonen in Hungary and suffering an engine failure in Valencia. Had he retired only as many times as Button, the 22-year-old German would have required an average of only three points per extra race to prevail.

You can feel Vettel's drive & sheer will to win in the above description - he is FIERCER than the car which is a must-have attribute to win in motor racing.

人要比车凶 = The Driver MUST be FIERCER than the Car.

Sebastian Vettel had a great year in 2009, having drove a great campaign for Red Bull this year. He's only in his second full year of F1 Grand Prix racing and he's so young. Considering he is only 22, I am pretty certain of his makings as a future F1 world champion - he has so much potential!

He will have learned a huge amount from this year, and he will come back a stronger driver with the experience of what he's taken out of 2009 - he is for sure a future F1 world champion.

His most recent motor racing performance
Vettel teamed up with Michael Schumacher for the 2009 Race of Champions Nations Cup, which they went on to win in a run-off against the Great Britain team of Jenson Button and Andy Priaulx.

[Sebastian buttons in Button!!!]

Mark my words: Sebastian will button in Button & the rest in 2010!
