Default Is this abuse of public facilities?

This email was sent via 75557@stomp.com.sg

Spotted this family washing their car. Nothing wrong with that you may say?

Firstly they were at busy East Coast Parkway B1 public carpark on a Sat (12 Aug) morning, taking up two lots while park users could only shake their heads in despair because of the lack of parking spaces.

Secondly, they were using buckets of water taken from the nearby public toilet. Daddy, not in picture was at the toilet collecting another bucket of water. This is absolutely disgraceful - to drive all the way to a free car park in East Coast and take water from a public toilet meant for park users to change and shower. All to save themselves 20cents worth of water? What a terrible example to set for their child who will grow up thinking its OK to misuse public facilities.

Perhaps the park authorities should have regular park rangers to educate proper use of park facilities and to put up signs to prevent blatant misuse of park facilities. I hate to see the day when more people will come to 'steal' water to wash their cars and the park authorities will no longer provide free toilets and showers because of these abusers.

The picture does not show whether the carpark is really very full. If it is full, then taking 2 lots is very inconsiderate, otherwise, I think others can park in the other empty lots.

As for driving to a free carpark to use the free water, I personally find that the car owner is not really very smart... Unless she is staying really close, otherwise, the patrol used for driving to and from the carpark will likely cost more than 20cents.

Default Signs Needed

Signs that say "WASHING OF VEHICLES IS STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED IN THIS CAR PARK!" need to be erected around this car park.

Default .... a photo tells a thousand words ...

... frankly the car park does looks deserted... however that does not give anyone the right to park indiscriminately. As for washing the car it appears they are doing it regularly so perhaps the relevant authorities could advise them .... but then again is it an offence to wash vehicles in a public place? I am a regular visitor at the East Coast Park too and there were some occassions when I returned to my car and had to clean off bird droppings ( probably from the bird sanctuarys) on my windscreen, windows etc using water from a nearby public toilet. Fortunately no one snapped a photograph if not I would have been accused of abusing park facilities as well ....

I agreed with you that the car owner don't know how to take dressing. Of course, it is a misuse of public facilities. Imagine if everybody were to follow their example.
