Use of Multiple Parking Coupons
Jimmy Tan, 32, spotted this car with its dashboard hidden under 24 half-hour parking coupons. Mr Tan was at the Midlink Plaza carpark yesterday (28 September) at about 4pm when he noticed this "interesting car, which stood out from the crowd".
The sight drew curious stares from a number of passers-by who stopped for a second look at the car. A parking warden was also at the carpark, but he had not yet noticed the car when Mr Tan was leaving the place.
Mr Tan said: "I pity the parking warden when he/she comes up to this car in this carpark."

This message via the 75557 gateway is from Yazid Idris:
I can understand why the driver placed that number of coupons at one go as probably he/she doesn't have the time to return periodically to extend his parking hours.
Recently, I had a similar situation on 6th September while parking at a URA carpark while attending a Video Production Workshop for Teachers at The Substation. The said carpark is at Armenian Street and the rate is $1.00 for half an hour from 8.30am to 5pm.
I placed a total of 16 half-hours coupons to cover from 8.30am to 12.30pm in the hope that the parking warden would be lenient. Moreover, I have ran out of coupons and the 2-day course at The Substation was until 6.30pm. A quick glance around the area does not reveal any shop that might sell parking coupons.
However, to my dismay later, the parking warden was strict and still issued me a parking offence ticket at 3.38pm for a composition fine of $20.00.
Therefore, on that day, placing 16 half-hour coupons cost $8 and would cover only hours. For that said driver, 24 half-hour coupons cost $12 and would cover 6 hours. For a driver who have to park from 8.30am to 5.00pm, that would be 8 and a half hours and would cost $17 worth of coupons.
I have since paid that $20 parking offence ticket after a reminder and thus I paid a total of $28 to park in the $17 full day duration parking space. I thus had to pay $11 extra for that parking space.
I am not sure if there is a single whole day URA parking ticket but the inconvenience of tearing away $17 worth of coupons for those drivers who have to park full day would have been better handled with the implementation of a ERP-style parking, provided there is a NETS top-up machine is nearby.
I am now wondering who will the passers-by like Mr Jimmy Tan pity this time, drivers who have to be at the area for the whole duration of the parking time or still the parking warden who is doing their job?

Heard that if you going to park the vehicle for more than six hour. It is more worth if you put one half-an-hour parking cupon and get a fine then putting 12 half-an-hour ticket. Not sure havent get my driving license yet

This is such a common sight especially in public carparks in the CBD area. Is STOMP desperate for talking points?

well, my place is in CBD so it 24 hr parking lots & i can tell you, it is VERY VERY STRICT....
so when students come over to my place yes, they have to place lots & lots of coupons from the time 8am to 5pm $2 per hr x 9hr= S$ 18, then follow by $1 per hour...
so if doesn't have $1 coupons then what to do have to use $0.50 so 1hr x4 , so 9 x 4=32 coupons la.....(haha just counting)
they been to multi- parking & shouted " Mui TaHan"

whatever happened to orange coupons. save half the effort..
yazid should have spread out his supply by using half in the morning, come back at lunch and place the other half. this reduces the risks and lowers the fines. works best if he can return every 1 or 2 hours, since the carpark is just next door.

well, i'm not quite sure raw, as like my students they sometimes cannot find one lot near my place so they have to park somtime 2 bus-stop away & sometimes they wont know what time meeting will end, of cos there's lunch time but soem think gg up down back two bus-stop is pointless....anyway it dun always have whole day meeting la, that's why some dun buy the $1 coupon....
