Watch Where You Kick That Ball!
An incensed Mr Patrick Lee, 45, was angered by the noise created by what he calls 'a bunch of boisterous schoolboys' whom he heard yelling at the top of their voices while playing soccer at an open field near some HDB flats and a carpark in Stirling Road on 9 October at 2 pm.
In his email to STOMP, Mr Lee commented:
"Despite the fact that glass windows and ceramic potted plants were nearby, the boys walloped the football with their might as though they were playing in the National Stadium soccer field.
Then, a loud bang erupted from a stray ball which landed in the front porch of my house. The impact, smashed a letter box and ripped off part of the branches from one of my favourite pots of house plants."
One of the schoolboys then went running over to Mr Lee's home to retrieve the ball, and gave him a "quick apology."
Mr Lee was not appeased. He continued in his email:
"Apparently, to them, it was no big deal even when private properties are being damaged as a result of their "Bo-Chap" attitude.I was infuriated when they continued playing as though nothing had happened. At this point, I took some pictures of them as well as the damaged they had caused. The entire football team (about 10 of them) then marched over and stood right in front of my house in protest of photographs taken of
them without their consent. The "star" (circled red), blurted out in defence of the team that "it's only an accident what!". This shows how apathetic some of today's youngsters have become.
I found out later that the boys are students of a secondary school nearby."
What do you think of this? Tell us.

Outrageous! If i were them, i would have gone to another area where its plainly trees and grass so that in case anything happens it wun damage other ppl's properties. Or if their sch got field then play there la. And how could that boy say its only an accident? Should at least give a sincere apology and even pay for the losses. Its 100% those boys' fault anyway. It cant be like "its ur fault. who ask u stay here". -.-"

This is an argumantative case. The boys should not play soccer so near to resident area as one, damgage of resident's property may happen, and secondly, people could get hurt. I once got a good scolding by a resident in the neighbourhood because I kicked the soccer ball and it landed on a 4-year old kid's head. I apologised profusely and learnt my lesson. The boys who were playing soccer should pay for the damages instead of having that "bo chup" attitude. And from what the "star" said, it does not show any form of maturity. Yes, it's an accident. But who caused it? How should they resolve this? That should be how they think in their head when they broke the letterbox and ripped the plant.

why they so rude one? are teens growing to be like them? beside my house there`s a field. alot of soccer-fans play there almost everyday. kinda irresponsible when they smashed your things! somemore they even harrassed some passerbys by shouting or pointing and all. it`s such an eyesore.

Is there an open area big enough for them to play there? Maybe it's due to the lack of facilities? (but I'm not saying they are right or committed no wrong).

Well yes,but IT TAKES TWO HANDS TO CLAP...
He shouldn't have taken pictures of them.
I remember a few months ago, there was a case where a Expat(angmoh) who was living right beside my school's street soccer court came to the gate everyday and started taking pictures and videos with his handphones. He even climbed in once and dragged one of my friends to the school office.A group of us,including me,actually went up to him and hurled 'vulgar injectives' at him.Although that was wrong,it actually solved the problem..He got scared and talked to our school board. They then came up with time agreements, like what time the court could be used.
If we hadn't done that,he might still be taking videos and pictures today

maybe that is sth wrong with both sides...both partoes do have faults...Mr Lee shouldn't take photos of those kids without their consent, cause it's invasion of privacy....and next, the boys shouldn't play near housing estates as it might disrupt ppl living in that area.....or damage ppl's property....
