Question Service standards of cab drivers

James Liauw was leaving the main building of St. Andrew's Community Hospital just past midday Oct 13 when he witnessed a scene which “really disturbed” him.

He wrote: “A cab (on call) drove in to pick up an old gentleman in a wheelchair together with an old lady and a maid. Not only did the cab driver not assist the maid in helping the old man to board his taxi, he seemed very uncomfortable in having these three passengers. I felt very sorry for the maid who was struggling to help the old man and all the driver did was to stand there and watch!”

James wondered why the driver bothered responding to a call for a cab from the hospital since he seemed so unwilling to serve these passengers.

He added: “Despite all the publicity and awards, customer service by cab drivers certainly has not improved.”

What do you think of the service standards of cab drivers in Singapore?

It's bad..I have seen drivers helping ppl in the past..now they do this because they have attian that standard in the past??how can they do this???I think their service is just bad...but we can't sterotype each and everyone of them because of a few bad eggs...

That cab driver will face heavy penalties but most likely will "Fried Oily fish". Singapore's standards of service are deteorating and maybe that's why the "Spirit Of Service" stopped showing.

haha.. so buy 4d lor haha joking joking i think this type of taxi driver not fit to be one, they didnt think of the passengers but some do some are not , they should help the people easpecially who are elderly and disabled, they should help instead of seeing them, (Xiu shou Pang Guan(in eng dunno how to say, forget le)) of way shouldnt have it.

Thats is call service, and this kind of service is bad,if i were the cab driver i would help, i not like this people see only do nothing still wanna impatiently one.I think thier standard has drop down as you all knows that the cab fare rises and also during the peak hours flood with taxi and non peak hours just 1 or 2 taxi can be seems..

*sigh* this type of driver is sho sho i got nothing to say about them.. so disappointed sia.. no wonder nowadays so many ppl take mrt/bus instead of taxi

Good move by Stomp. Why cover up for such heartless drivers? I would not board this cab now that I know the number.

Personally I'm very disgusted with the attitude of such cabbies

too often I've witness how taxi drivers will never bother to get out of their seats to help the commuters

I've seen housewives (locals mostly) struggling with their prams and babies with grocery and shopping bags trying to load unto the boot with their baby in their arms; and the cab driver waiting impatiently on his seat

I've seen passengers struggling with heavy luggages heaving the load into the boot all by themselves without the cabby's help at all

Once I was going airport so dialed a cab; the cab came and opened the boot when it arrived and parked

I deliberately waited for him to get his bloody ass out of his seat to help me load the luggages unto the boot; and also waited for him to help me unload at the airport

mind you, I just waited by the open boot facing his wing mirror so that he could actually notice I was waiting for him to help me ...

no tips for him ...
