Default Taxi Fares Set To Go Up Again !!!

This is happening yet again, just because the fuel price has gone up.

When was the last time taxi fares came down after petrol prices were lowered?

Flag down fare raised from $2.40 to $2.50; peak hour surcharged raised to $2 and the meter rate changed to be charged more per distance travelled

It's getting cheaper to own a car now ...

Dollars for your thoughts (pennies are worthless nowadays ...)

Is not cheap to own a car, is cheaper to walk.

Question Boycott lor?

What's the use of complaining about the increase?
The problem is that we will complain whenever there is an increase in bus, mrt, taxi fares but in the end what happen??
Don't take their transport service, is it?

this means less late night movies and loitering outside, ie. must catch the last bus home.

Default we will not have a say

No matter how we argue on forums about how we are so unhappy about fare hikes, the fares will still be increased. Do we have as commuters a say in such a matter? I guess not. So at the end of the day, there is no point arguing. Just save more on other daily expenses to cover the cost of the increment.

It's true. I have not heard of taxi fares readjusting downwards when the price of oil dips. There's not much we can do except take less taxis...

Whenever the taxi fares are raised the taxi companies would also charge the drivers more on rentals and other fees. I hope this time round the taxi companies would not raise their rentals so that the drivers could benefit from the fare increase. The taxi companies are already making a lot of money from their taxi operations.

That's true Infotoo.

I learnt from the taxi driver that the taxi companies earn income from taxi advertisement? Then, they make those taxi uncles drive to the servicing centre every time they are called back for changing to new advertisement and only compensate a little for their time, petrol and lose of income...
