My Dedication to my Mum

Since young, I have grown up under the protective wings of my mother. Like all mothers do, she was stern and strict with me whenever I did not do well in my studies during my secondary school days. There were tiffs and exchanges of hurtful remarks between us at times and I was too ignorant and young to know of my mother’s love for me then. One memorable incident to me was I have gone to this dentist to do my braces for my gums. Being young I might be, but I was always conscious of my two “bugs bunny” teeth and having my crooked teeth on the bottom straightened. This has my mother spending a fair bit of amount into accommodating my request, for this I owned her a deep gratitude 

Now as I grown up, I realized I should have been more obedient and not made her angry or worried while she tirelessly worked and tended for us and the home.

Making Chinese Broths is my mother's specialty. I enjoy my favourites like Potato with Carrot, Lotus Root with Peanuts, Old Cucumber and Melon. The nutritional essence of the soups, revitalize me with their natural taste of goodness. My mother knows my eating preferences inside out, pampering me best, with her tasty home-cooked dishes!

Whenever I am down with coughs and flu, she will become the most worried mother, bringing me to see the doctor immediately. The times I had my chicken-pox and suffered from sun-burn made her so anxious over my recovery; she would make sure I had my medicine and sleep, as well as preparing suitable foods for my meal.

The word “LOVE” is not easily brought up to our mouths, owing to the fact that we are from a conservative family. However, I truly realized that I am a very lucky child to have a mother like my mum. She always put me and my brother interests more than her own, planning for our future, saving every hard-earned penny for our education and home necessity expenses.

I think of my mum as the most loving mother a child can has, in regard to the fact that she has never ask us to buy her anything, except wanting us to save for ourselves. She is ever contented to looking after us, day and night and not thinking of going for a holiday or shopping though she has every means to.

Being the practical person she is, she would cheer up at the thought of winning lotteries. Remembering back, there was this one time when she won a voting contest to determine the most look-alike couples. She won a two hundred dollars grocery voucher in IMM Giant. Seeing her happy face is definitely worth me trying for this mother’s day contest story as well. I hope that I can make her happier by finding myself a bf soon, so I can bring her out for a dinner together. Mum, I luv U! Thank U

I would like to participate in your STOMP Dearest Mummy's Contest.

I’m going to write a story about My mom who went through life from a totally different expects of what she thought of and faces her challenges everyday of her life. But till today, whatever has been happening or has happened, she still continues having a vision of hope for a better tomorrow!


A Lady whom bore 3 kids and became a mother. A mother who has gone out of the box to be there for each one of us especially me, who was born as a 5 month old premature baby, with deformed hands and legs. Where dozen of corrective operations, were done in order for her daughter to have a better future. Years and years of operations were done, which i always feels that i would not have come around if its not for my mom's extraordinary love sacrifice, will power and important being there for me every step of my life, She will always say, "Mary never say die, it will be just alright"..

There was not once, she have thought of what she wants out of her life, but lived for whom she loved..

Though She have gone through countless nightmares raising us all, Endless tears, Neverending agonies and the struggle to sustain the family been a single parent... Regardless of all sorrows within u , u always put and bring a smile to your love ones.

The word Thank You is not enough to express my gratitude for all u have done and still doing for me. I have gone through countless obstacles in my life and without a doubt, if it's not for u i would not have overcome any of it. You give me what i needed the most - LOVE ,COURAGE AND SUPPORT. Till my last breath, m grateful and never will i give up.
